Stage 1: Personal Clarity
- The Accomplishments Generator: Analyze the accomplishments that you’ve enjoyed achieving so you can determine why you were successful. Through this, you can identify the things that both motivate and satisfy you.
- The Skills Inventory: Discover what unique skills you have to offer the world, remembering that just because you’re good at something doesn’t mean you have to do it. We look for the skills you love to use.
- The Personal Assessment: Determine the way you are with your friends and at work. You’ll discover whether the way you see yourself is the same as the way the world sees you.
- The Interests Analyzer: Learn what you’re truly passionate about and why. You’ll find commonalities in the things that you enjoy so you can see the big picture of what you want. Also, you’ll discover what does not interest you so you can avoid being frustrated by doing something you don’t want.
- The Values Clarifier: Define what your core values really are and see how they line up with your accomplishments. This an integral step toward finding a new career that supports your values instead of conflicting with them.
- The Relationship Definer: Determine what characteristics in people you like and dislike. Find out what kinds of people truly inspire you so you can bring yourself closer to them. Find out what people drive you crazy and learn to avoid them.
- The Ideal Environment: Determine the physical qualities and the atmosphere of your Ideal Environment - where will you love to be each day.
- The Tools Assistant: Use two of our favourite assessment tools - Kolbe and Strengthfinders - to reinforce and add to everything we have figured out so far.
- The Personal Allegory: Determine your short-form allegory - your own unique story about who you are and what you want to do. This story will serve as a reference-point, against which to make career and other life decisions.
Stage 2: Career Capture
- The Personal Brand Creator: Design how to present yourself to the world. Create your résumé, online presence and your public image – it’s all part of your Personal Brand.
- The Opportunity Generator: Determine what opportunities are out there for you to explore and research.
- The Network Maximizer: Build your network, informational interview and use tools like LinkedIn and Facebook.
- The Partner for Progress Program: Team up with Career Illuminators when you’re ready to go out and find the right job in your new career. You’ll have a partner who is as committed to finding it as you are. You’ll be held accountable week in and week out. Career Counseling Programs At Your Convenience
Regardless of how you participate in the program, you are doing more than getting career pointers -- you are embarking on a life-changing journey within yourself, to discover who you are and what you need to do to find happiness.
Some might ask, “why should I bother with a Career Illuminators career counselor when there are millions of self-help books out there?” Well, the answer to that is very simple. All books are intended for a mass audience, so they might not be the right fit for you. They certainly aren’t able to interact with you, help you along, or make sure stay on track. Finally the authors of these books might know what they’re talking about, or they might not -- you have no way of knowing.
That’s where our career counselors come in. We’ve helped countless people explore their inner needs and desires, so we really know what we’re doing. And in addition to this incredibly thorough experience, we bring dedication, passion and a deep understanding of the human spirit. We’ve spent years honing our program into a completely effective career counseling process with proven results.
Whether you are meeting our career counselors in person or online, the result will be the same: we’ll keep you on track, keep you motivated, and help you navigate the sometimes challenging byways of your heart and soul.
Our career counseling programs come in two varieties: in-person, face-to-face counseling at our Toronto office, or via the Internet. Either way you’re getting a highly experienced counselor using an approach that works best for you. We’ll help you figure things out, make sense of the exercises, and nurse you through your blind spots (everybody has them). All with a caring hand. We want only what’s best for you!
